Tree trimming is more important than you might think. There are many types of trees and in order for them to maximise their potential and continuing growing, they should be taken care of properly. Trees trimming is essential for three main reasons: garden aesthetics, tree safety, or tree maintenance and health.
Garden Aesthetics
Tree trimming successfully aids in shaping and overall appearance of your tree. Though, you should not seek to force an abnormal shape or size on a tree. The extent of trimming and pruning that will be required could significantly damage it.
Tree Safety
Branches and limbs that are dead or damaged can collapse and fall at any time creating a major safety hazard. If tree branches block your sight when driving, they need to be trimmed to prevent any accidents. Lastly, tree limbs and branches sometimes grow near electricity lines.
Tree Maintenance and Health
It’s possible to bring an infected tree back to life by critically pruning away damaged branches and limbs. Making the crest of a tree thinner enhances airflow, which can be incredibly valuable. If you notice that branches are intersecting and/or scraping together, they need to be cut down so that they don’t unexpectedly fall.
It’s always ideal to clip or prune a tree during its resting season. Though you can prune a pine tree at all times, it is still ideal to do so when it is dormant. The only special case is when a danger is possible. Be diligent about the branch sizes that you are going to take off. If it is smaller than five centimeters wide, removing it is OK. If the branch is between five and 10 centimeters wide, you generally shouldn’t remove it. If it is wider than 10 centimeters wide, you should only do so if you have a valid reason.
